We need help passing 2L, a critical ballot initiative that will maintain funding for continued legal work and analysis of a public power option for Boulder. 2L will keep our options open, allowing us to assess total costs for the creation of a public power electric utility, and giving voters the information they need to decide whether to launch the utility several years from now. If we succeed in creating a public power utility in Boulder, we will be the first city in the US to do so for reasons of climate change. You will be participating in a historic effort!
We need help with literature distribution, calling, yard signs and other get-out-the-vote tasks. Please sign up on the form below if you are able to work with us! Meanwhile, here are some important dates for volunteering:
Date: October 7
Time: Two hour shifts between 9am and 5pm.
What: Help us collate literature packets. We will have roughly two-hour shifts between 9am and 5pm. We are collaborating with literature distribution for progressive City Council candidates and other ballot initiatives.
Date: October 7-8
Time: Saturday, 3:30-4:00pm and 6:30-7:00pm; Sunday 2:30-3:00pm and 5:30 to 6:00pm
What: Adventure Film Series at the Boulder Theater; hand out YES on 2L, 2O, 2P fliers. You might want to buy tickets to the films! That way you can do two shifts – one before and one after the film festival.
Date: October 10-15
Time: You choose. Approximately four hours at a time.
What: You will walk through assigned precincts with a record of high voter turnout. Go with friend! This is a “lit drop” only, so essentially a nice walk on a fall day. Not door knocking / talking is necessary.
Time: You choose
What: We need people to solicit neighbors to take “Forward for Clean Energy” yard signs. We have people to distribute but what we need is new takers! Please ask friends who care about clean energy and climate change to take a sign.
Date: November 6-7
Time: Coordinated by New Era (17th and Pearl)
What: Phone calling / door knocking at homes identified as probable pro-voters. We need to make sure people DO get to the polls.
Time: Coordinated by New Era; mostly evening hours.
What: Targeted calling Boulder residents between now and Election Day. Script provided. Please bring cell phone.
Time: Coordinated by EOF
What: Write Letters to the Editor (Daily Camera, Boulder Weekly). Or, if you don’t have time to write, you can lend your name to a ghost-written letter.
