Duncan Gilchrist: Deal with Xcel Will Lock Boulder Into A Future of Energy InequityPublished on: Monday, August 3, 2020

Dear City Council,
If you are serious about doing what is in your control to amend the systems that perpetuate racial and socioeconomic inequalities, we should not enter into agreement with Xcel Energy.
Entering into agreement with Xcel would lock our city into an ‘energy governance’ model that is completely deaf to the local needs, concerns and futures of low-income residents and residents of color but very responsive to out-of-state shareholders and elites that have the money and resources to lawyer up at the PUC. This is antithetical to the values that we claim to stand for as a city.
Isn’t this the exact opposite of where we want to go ???
